The community of Stratford, Connecticut, is grieving the passing of a remarkable man who gave over 40 years of his life to make the lives of others better. On November 1, 2023, Dr. David Jutkowitz, who was referred to by his numerous fans as “Dr. J,” passed away. His age was seventy-five. As a well-liked and empathetic family doctor, he had a significant impact on many generations of patients and their families.

The day Dr. Jutkowitz was born in New York City, January 18, 1948, marked the beginning of his path toward recovery and caregiving. In 1973, after completing his family medicine residency at Bridgeport Hospital, he relocated to Stratford. He was a former New York Medical College graduate. He established his own clinic on Main Street in 1976 and spent the remainder of his life giving back to his community. Peers have acknowledged Dr. Jutkowitz as a family medicine specialist due to his diligence and extensive training.

He developed strong bonds with patients by offering them personalized, all-encompassing treatment, regardless of their age or background. His commitment extended beyond his private practice; he was associated with Yale New Haven Health and served as a clinical professor at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Jutkowitz was always at the forefront of medical practices and breakthroughs as an active member of both the Connecticut State Medical Society and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Jutkowitz received unwavering affection and support from his family. Rick and Lisa were the names of his two children by Arlene, a nurse, his wife. The greatest source of pride and enjoyment in his life came from his four grandchildren. When friends, colleagues, and family learned of Dr. Jutkowitz’s passing, they sent out messages of sorrow and sympathy. His impact on many lives was evident from the moving stories people shared about him and the expressions of gratitude they expressed for his selfless concern, empathy, and unwavering loyalty.
